Green Rooibos - Going Green

Everyone is talking about "going green" and more green teas are being drunk by healthy consumers the world over. Rooibos or "red bush" tea is now also available in "green", but how can red be green?

Instead of being allowed to ferment for long periods of time, as with normal rooibos, no fermentation takes place and the leaves and stems are rolled and dried directly. The green format of rooibos tea has higher levels of the originally occurring anti-oxidants than fermented rooibos.

Rooibos (Aspalathus Linearis) is endemic to South Africa and grows only in the Cedarberg region of the Cape. It is a traditional, local remedy used by the Khoi people as a general health tonic and to calm nerves. Rooibos is naturally caffeine free and contains aspalathin which is rich in anti-oxidants that fight free radicals to help prevent ageing. Rooibos extract also contains zinc and alpha hydroxy acid which promote healthy skin. Rooibos has a soothing effect on the skin and has been used to treat eczema and other skin irritations.

Green rooibos extract is blended with Aloe Ferox in Imbali hand and nail treatment to create a deeply rich moisturising cream to soften and nourish dry hands and cuticles. Especially good for sensitive skin.

Rooibos, the healing herb.
